Safety Inspections & Pink Slips in Ryde
Safety Inspections & Pink Slips
If your vehicle is due for NSW registration renewal and it’s over 5 years old, you’ll need a valid Pink Slip (e-Safety Check) before Service NSW will process your rego. Top Ace Mechanical is an authorised inspection station serving Ryde, Macquarie Park and North Ryde, with over 25 years’ experience keeping local vehicles safe and legally roadworthy.
We carry out every inspection thoroughly and explain any issues in plain English no scare tactics, no unnecessary upselling. Just an honest check of what your car needs to pass, and to be genuinely safe on the road.
What a Pink Slip (e-Safety Check) Covers
A NSW e-Safety Check is a comprehensive roadworthiness inspection. At Top Ace Mechanical, we check:
- Brakes — pads, discs, handbrake operation and pedal feel
- Tyres — tread depth, condition, and correct sizing
- Steering and suspension — for wear, play, or damage affecting handling
- Lights and indicators — headlights, tail lights, brake lights, indicators and reflectors
- Seatbelts — condition and correct operation of all belts
- Windscreen and wipers — cracks, chips and wiper function within the driver’s line of sight
- Body and structure — checking for damage, rust or modifications that affect roadworthiness
- Exhaust and emissions — visible faults or excessive noise
- General mechanical condition — fluid leaks, horn operation, and other compliance checks
If your vehicle passes, we issue your e-Safety Check certificate electronically, ready for your Service NSW registration renewal — no paperwork for you to carry.
What Happens If My Car Doesn't Pass?
It's more common than most people expect, and it isn't the end of the road. If your vehicle doesn't pass, we'll give you a clear, itemised list of exactly what needs fixing to meet the standard — not a vague "failed" slip. Many issues, like a blown globe or worn wiper blade, are minor and quick to fix. If more substantial mechanical work is needed, our workshop can carry out the repairs on-site and re-inspect once it's done.

What Ryde Drivers Say
Have carried out multiple repairs and scheduled services on our vehicle. Extremely helpful and quick to turn the work around. Very reasonable pricing and always feel we’ve only paid for the work that was really required. Thanks team. Great to see a small business doing well and servicing customers

I live close to where the Ryde Top Ace workshop is. My car battery had stopped working after I had been overseas. The Top Ace personnel were kind enough to come to my home within a short time of my request and jump start my battery. Very obliging and prompt. I would recommend their services to anyone.

I had an excellent experience at Top Ace in West Ryde. From start to finish, their team was professional, honest, and truly went above and beyond. I came in for a routine service + diagnostics, and Amir the owner took the time to explain all the issues in clear, non-technical terms. The work was done quickly, they used quality parts, and when I picked up the car it ran smoother than ever. They also handled the paperwork for my pink/blue slip with no hassle.

FAQ
Most frequent questions and answers
Most e-Safety Checks take around 30–45 minutes, depending on the condition of the vehicle and whether any adjustments are needed on the spot.
An e-Safety Check certificate is valid for 28 days, so it’s best to book your inspection close to your registration renewal date rather than well in advance.
A Pink Slip (e-Safety Check) is for registered NSW vehicles renewing rego. A Blue Slip is required for vehicles that have been unregistered, written off and repaired, or modified, and involves a more detailed identity and compliance check through an Authorised Inspection Station.
It’s recommended, especially close to your registration due date, but we do our best to accommodate walk-ins where possible. Call ahead and we’ll let you know our next available slot.
Yes. As a full-service mechanical workshop, we can carry out most repairs on-site and re-inspect your vehicle once it’s roadworthy no need to go elsewhere.
